802.16-M WiMAX Ready for Next Year

WiMAX 802.11e is not yet come to Indonesia, 802.16m, or WiMAX reportedly also known as WiMAX 2, will be released next year in the United States. The initiative was filed by ‘The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers’ (IEEE), a professional organization of international non-profit, which moves in the improvement of technology relating to electronics. IEEE hoped this summer to complete the final approval for the 802.16m standardization.

One of the largest WiMAX provider in the United States, Clearwire, and even has said it plans to conduct testing 802.16m next year, and hopes to implement in 2012. This next-generation WiMAX offers compatibility with 802.16e, so the operator can switch to 802.16m services with relatively low cost with minimal disruption.
