802.16-M WiMAX Ready for Next Year

WiMAX 802.11e is not yet come to Indonesia, 802.16m, or WiMAX reportedly also known as WiMAX 2, will be released next year in the United States. The initiative was filed by ‘The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers’ (IEEE), a professional organization of international non-profit, which moves in the improvement of technology relating to electronics. IEEE hoped this summer to complete the final approval for the 802.16m standardization.

One of the largest WiMAX provider in the United States, Clearwire, and even has said it plans to conduct testing 802.16m next year, and hopes to implement in 2012. This next-generation WiMAX offers compatibility with 802.16e, so the operator can switch to 802.16m services with relatively low cost with minimal disruption. Excess 802.16m certainly lies in the speed, with the ability to downlink an average of more than 100Mbps, the WiMAX Forum Vice President, as quoted from networkworld.com. This speed can be achieved thanks to a smart antenna technology combined with multi-channel approach.

If (you) to build a 20 lane highway to feel complicated, you can build two toll roads with 10 points, or four highways with 5 points. Thus, you get speeds higher data using multi-channel combinations. Unfortunately, this speed increase is not accompanied by large increase service coverage. 802.16m WiMAX is reportedly the same as its predecessor which only reaches about 80 km square at each access point. Currently working on WiMAX Forum certification profiles 802.16m for developers who wish to quickly run this technology as the IEEE completed the standard next September. If all according to plan, according to Shakouri WiMAX device 2 will be available on the market a year later, or about the second half of 2011.
